From 2011 to 2021, marriage and divorce rates among U.S. women decreased. The majority of women currently marrying are millennials, who tend to marry later and are more inclined to seek prenuptial agreements compared to previous generations. Although traditionally associated with the wealthy, prenups are becoming more common, especially among millennials. Women in this generation are financially independent due to workforce equalization and marrying later, leading them to protect their accumulated assets. Factors such as student debt, which can amount to significant sums, contribute to the desire for financial protection. Divorce is more socially acceptable now than in the past, but there is still a lack of understanding regarding the legal ramifications, such as spousal support and equitable distribution.
