Hollywood talent is increasingly torn between streaming vs. the big screen. Netflix is starting to lose marquee creators like the Duffer Brothers (Stranger Things), rumored to be heading to Paramount and Skydance, largely because Netflix limits theatrical releases to just a day or two. Big-budget filmmakers want their projects shown in theaters, especially when budgets climb toward $300M. Greta Gerwig, for example, only agreed to direct Netflix’s Narnia remake after securing an IMAX theatrical window in 2026. Unless Netflix adjusts its policy, it risks losing more top-tier talent.
