Winner: ‘SmartLess’ podcast is going to SiriusXM for $100 million
Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes are moving their popular podcast "SmartLess" from Amazon to SiriusXM in a three-year deal worth $100 million. The podcast, launched in July 2020, has featured notable guests like President Joe Biden, Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, and others. While the deal maintains the podcast's availability, SiriusXM subscribers will enjoy perks such as early access to episodes and additional shows. SiriusXM will have advertising and distribution rights, content control, and event management for the podcast. This move follows Amazon's previous exclusive rights deal in 2021, valued between $60 million and $80 million. SiriusXM, with about 34 million subscribers, also handles other podcasts like Conan O’Brien’s “Conan Needs a Friend” and “Pod Save America” exclusively.
